Hello Alexander,
to clearify the situation: GVP made a contract with Hydra to sell their
boards exclusively on the US-market. Moreover the other GVP distributors
taking care of this product in several countries. Hydra is the manufacturer
in england but it seems, that GVP will take over the manufacturing the next
time. Unfortunately they have to sold some problems on A-3000 as most of
the net-code is written in BCPL.

This means that Hydra is doing all the development for the networking
hard/software, correct? Also, is Hydra actually mass-producing the hardware
or is GVP? The reason I ask is that GVP is a company with a good reputation
and I would have more faith in the product if it were GVP work.

My local dealer has some of the Hydra/GVP boards, and the current versions
have some bugs in them, specifically if a file's over 100K the network
starts loosing bits here and there. I asked GVP about this, and they
suggested that I hold off from buying them right now, as they're doing some
more software development/fixing and they said it would be a much more
stable product in a couple of months. Also soon, autobooting from the net
will be supported.

Ethan you're right, that Hydra is doing the hard- and software. But I
think, GVP will take over some parts of manufacturing and maybe some
software developing as Hydra can't handle all the job alone. The growing
market, especially the A-3000 needs more and new software Hydra can't do
alone. If you need the netboards for A-2000/500 use, they're working fine.
However, the fact that GVP takes the Hydra products should be a good reason
to buy it. Ever dissappointed by GVP?
