Vic, please read msg # 11700 for the answer to the fonts2 assignment. My
other problem, of not getting squares from my DTP program still persists. I
have tried changing everything pertinent in Prefs, but nothing seems to
work. A square on the screen still prints out as a rectangle on paper. The
vertical dimension is the one that changes. When I tried printing in
landscape mode, the vertical dimension came out correctly! So, no matter
which orientation, the 'square' is always the right width, but not the
right height. I had to check the screen image several times to make sure
it was square there, and it was. BTW, you never answered my question about
Metadigm. Is it your company, are you a developer, or am I being too nosy?

I still think you're getting bitten by an aspect ratio thing. Which DTP
package are you using?
Metadigm is a commercial developer with, currently, a single package
(MetaScope: The Debugger). It looks as if it will again be on the market
(we're negotiating with a publisher) and _should_ be updated shortly with
some 'massive' changes to make it 'source' compatible. We are, of course,
working on other things as well and I'll mention them as soon as they look
ready enough.

I'm using PageStream. Yes, it could be an aspect ratio thing, but
everything I change in my prefs has no effect on the problem. I've changed
the # of lines, and the spacing, which would seem to be the only things
capable of affecting this, but to no avail. I'll have to pull the
accelertor out and try different settings then. It was when I installed it
that the problem showed up. Not that it should have anything to do with
it!! What do you mean 'source compatible'. Will it show you where the
problem is in your source code? Does it work with C or just assembler?

PageStream has a 'known problem' working with 'printers' with non-square
pixels. I got the impression from them that this would be fixed in 2.2; I
also got the impression that this ONLY affected text tho (it's the specific
problem I reported). You ARE using the preferences driver from PageStream?
Re: MetaScope and 'source compatible'… MS currently show multiple
windows on memory which CAN be either 'data' or 'code'. This code is
disassembled from memory. With the source compatible version you can "mix"
the source and disassembly in a window(s) providing the compiler/assembler
generate the correct 'debug hunks'.

The pagestream problem happened after I installed a GVP
accelerator. Previous to that, a square was a square! Your product sounds
very interesting. I'll have to get around to learning assembler for the
6800×0's. I have programed a little 6502 assembler, but have not had the
need (or patience) <grin>, to learn Motorola. Is this product your
creation? I wish you luck with it.

It's good to hear someone be so enthusiastic about a product. I
hope Vic does well with it, if only because he's been such a great help to
me. I'll definitely check it out if and when I get into 68000 ML. It
doesn't look too hard, but I haven't any projects at the moment that need
ML routines, so I have to put my efforts into other areas. Nice to hear
from you.
