#AddTools: Proper Format?

Hello! If anyone out there is using Steve Tibbett's AddTools program (it allows you to add menu items to the Tools menu in WB 2.0), perhaps you could help me out. AddTools requires a file in S: called ToolsList. Unfortunately, the proper format for ToolsList entries isn't documented. The AddTools doc refers to a sample ToolsList file that's supposed to be in the archive, but the sample isn't there. If you know the proper ToolsList format, please let me know what it is…I'd love to put AddTools to good use. -Dave-

David, I tried AddTools for a bit and didn't care for it because, even if put in the WBStartup drawer, it still leaves a window open. I now use Carolyn's ToolMenu. It is much nicer as it requires no "toolslist" file — all the information is kept in ToolMenu's icon's tooltypes field. You'll find ToolMenu in Library 11 of AmigaTech.

I also had a window staying open with AddTools, but found out that it was due to my use of Conman. Once I went back to the stock console handler everything (including a few other programs) returned to "normal" when opening shells or background tasks. Fred

Fred, I don't use ConMan and couldn't get the window to close. I didn't give AddTools too much of a chance, tho, since, for me, ToolMenu is a much better way to do it (no toolslist file is needed).

Fred, I used AmiDock for about a month. I really kinda liked it. After a while, tho, the icons got in my way (I'd double click instead of single click and run 2 instances of the program), so I tried AddTools then ToolMenu. But, that's the nice thing about so many choices, we can (normally) set up our systems to our satisfaction.

I still am waiting for my "perfect" tools menu program. I would like one more along the lines of MyOwnMenu where you can have submenus as well as a second and third menu listing. I'll just have to wait a bit longer.:-) Fred
