Has anyone set up an MS-DOS partition on their A3000 for use with IBeM ? I have not had much success and I'm sure the problem lies in the mountlist entry. I have a 50 meg hard drive and I am not sure about the number of surfaces to use. I have set up a partition and am using the correct high/low cylinder values. I am using CrossDos with IBeM. JP

John, I was having problems until I named the device hddisk.device. I deduced this from the device name used by AMAX II for the Commodore controller. Also try to match the other entry samples in the IBeM docs. I haven't been able to boot the operating system directly from the drive yet but I can access & use the hard drive otherwise. ———————————————-Don- via Whap!

Ahh…I've been using scsi.device because that is what HDTools seems to use. I'll give hddisk a try. Do you by chance know how many surfaces the Quantum 50 meg drive uses ?

John, No, I'm not sure how many surfaces the Quantum uses since Commodore does not include a user manual for the drive with the 3000. I love that part of the 3000 manual that says refer to you hard drive manual as though everyone should have one. I use 4 surfaces with my Seagate (no manual with that either) & I know someone that uses 2 surfaces in his mountlist (I don't know what model hard drive he has). ———————————————-Don- via Whap!
