I thought as much, but I will have to see it work! It will save me almost
1000$ if I can since I already HAVE a WJ-MX10 and will only need 1 TBC
then! If I am doing live mixing I don't need them at all! If I use the WJ
as TBC then I will have to settle with 1 generation loss of video to
process through the toaster. BUT…..What kind of effects does the toaster
have besides wipes, fades, etc. I am talking about single-cam/deck
processing such as strobe, chroma effects, painting, bit-plane reduction,
etc. The ads are not THAT clear about what it actually does and I have not
had teh time to go to a demo ……YET!

Chroma-FX will allow you to _play_ with any one of 256 luminance
levels in a video input. It's close to a programming language, very
flexible. It comes with 39 or so built in effects (my favorite is red
chrome) and you can create your own and save them.
Toaster-Paint can not process video in real time (Chroma-FX does)
and as far as I know there is no facility for bit plane reduction.
Many of the toasters "croutons" (switcher effects) will do some
pretty interesting effects and there are more coming in the next release.

Avid is published monthly (I hear that next month they will go to a
slick cover) by Avid Publications in CA (408-252-0508). It is a magazine
(last issue was 40 pages) dedicated to the Amiga & video. They have
articles on the Toaster, CGs, 3D modeling programs, etc. I really recomend
it.
They are just now beginning to distribute through dealers where
before they were by subscription only. Check out your local dealer for a
copy.

Just on a sidetrack – you mentioned Avid magazine. I've heard that it deals
with the Amiga in video settings – is this correct?
I've never seen it anywhere – do you happen to have the company name and
address and subscription info?

First, let me preface all of this by saying that I do not have a
Toaster, so I cannot tell you what abilities it has/has not. However,
judging from what you want to do, it looks to be the only game in town.
Talk to Rad Moose in the AmigaVendors forum. He can probably give you the
lowdown on the WJ-MX10 as well. The info that I am passing on is from a
promotional issue of AVID, a small 'zine for Amiga Video heads.
