Flat wrap problems

Ok, I give up. After much trial and error I have managed to get IFF wraps on sheres etc to work fine, but I cant get FLAT X FLAT Z to work!. If anyone could check the steps below and tell me what I am doing wrong it would be most appreciated; I am running Imagine 1.1 in PAL mode. The IFF picture is a standard 320 x 200 HAM image (one of the pretty girls face pics from Compuserve). 1) In the detail editor I add a primitive plane sized 320 x 200 with 1 section. 2) With Attributes I select 'texture 1' and select the HAM pictures file name. 3) I select 'edit axies', 'M' for move, 'L' for local, then drag the IFF axis down to the lower left corner of the plane and accept with 'space'. 4) I select 'edit axies' again, 'S' for scale, 'L' for local, then grow the X and Z size until it just overlaps the plane and accept with space. 5) I select 'transform axies', 'size' and set the Y size to 2.0. If I now render the plane in a simple camera/light/plane stage the picture appears on the plane at the correct proportions, but the image has random 'noise' all over the surface. Altering the plane's colour settings alters the colour of the noise. It look similar to roughness but I have checked that roughness is set to 0. Sorry for the verbose question, but this has been driving me nuts!. Phil Camp.

Phil, any mapping that has a speckled appearance is caused by the map being positioned right at the surface of the object. Try moving the map one unit in Y (since the map's Y axis is 2 units long, this will be perfect) and the picture will look fine. Blaq! – via Whap!

Charles, Aha! Thanks for the tip. I had tried moving the IFF axis along the Y axis but had probably moved it too far, as any movement totally lost the IFF wrap from the plane. Phil Camp.
