We configed the controller jumpers correctly, and the hard drive jumpers are correct as well. We booted from the disk that came with the controller and set up a boot partition, two 40 Meg partitions and a 20 Meg partition. but it won't auto boot. It's REALLY weird. My controller w/my hard drive on my computer will hangs if the card is set for 1.3 roms, and in any case will not recognize the boot partition (I can't get to it) BUT if I use the XETEC setup program, it reports boot is there. If I use MY hard drive with his contoller & computer it recognizes boot, but doesn't boot off it. the 1.3 jumper Config does not cause his machine to hang. If I use his controller, on my computer & hard drive it DOES auto boot. Therefor my controller must be flakey. QED We worked about 4 hours on it trying every configuration we could think of. But it won't work in 1.3 configuration. It Usually hangs–though sometimes I'll get the Workbench hand, and from there I can use it if I boot of a floppy but 99% of the time it never even gets to the Workbench hand screen. I've been using it over the weekend in 1.2 configuration with a quick boot floppy and it's been working fine. Though I still can't locate the boot partition (The HD knows it's there but my OS doesn't). I love the Hard drive–I already hate the 500 at work with just floppies 🙂 I'm probably going to send it back to XETEC for a new one or a repair, even though It seems to work fine in 1.2 mode I'd rather have a controller thats 100% in order.
