Get a multisync. I believe you need it for the Flicker Fixer to work, and
for the new modes of the ECS.
But all this aside, there's little price difference anyway. Our standard
monitor (I manage/own a computer store) is an Aamazing SVGA multisync, 14",
tilt swivel stand, .28 mm dot pitch (the amount of space between the dots
of phosphor) and handles analog video up to 1024×768. This is an
interlaced monitor. We sell a bunch of them, and they're $375.
Within a couple of months, we'll have them for $15 more, but they'll be
non-interlaced using the new Toshiba CRT.
FYI, I was shocked today at the way some of the Amiga dealers are gouging
Amiga users. I just repaired an A2000 where the user had plugged in the
power connector offset by one pin. He blew one of the IC's and his DF0:.
The drive itself is a Chinon FB-354. I called one of the two local Amiga
Dealers (the better one of the two) for pricing on a new FB-354 and he
quoted $110! We sell Chinon drives in all our systems, and our selling
price is $69! The only difference between our IBM 720K Chinon drives and
Commodore's is that the FB-354 is an old model and is 50% taller.
I figure they are either gouging, or maybe Commodore is… they buy their
drives from CBM. We buy ours direct from Chinon. (I've got a case of
FB-354's on their way).
Rick, I called a couple of dealers looking for the Amazing SVGA NI and
nobody seemed to have it. How do you like it? Will it scan down to 15.x
KHz?
In the meantime, I picked up Panasonic PanaSync C1381 (.28 dp/780 NI/1280
Int) multisynch… but it doesn't scan down to 15. It is however a nice
little monitor… and only cost me $379. (oh yeah, I also bought an Amiga
3000, and the C1381 plugged right in to it)… any one need an A2000 with 1
meg Agnus & Flicker Fixer?

Sorry, but the NI version isn't available yet. Last I heard, the crt's
were still on a container ship somewhere out in the Pacific. Will take a
couple of months before they get them to us in the form of monitors.
As to the specs, I don't know. But it should do the Amiga 15.x Khz…
after all, even my ancient Mitsubishi 1349 does. (the model prior to
putting the Diamondscan logo on it, about 4 years old).

Actually I do. But like a lot of people, don't have the money to pay for
one. Almost had one person talked into trading his A2000 & xt bridgecard to
me (no extras, just that) in trade for a 16 Mhz AT compatible with 2 meg of
ram, 40 meg HD, 1.2 meg floppy and svga card with multisync monitor (the
same interlace model I mentioned in my last message). He was looking for a
pc. We sell that AT system for $1,200. But he wanted a '386 and wanted to
trade straight across for a 33 Mhz '386 with 4 meg of ram, 85 meg hd and
vga video.
So I'm still looking for that "great deal" to pop up. The only thing I
need a 2000 for (when you get right down to it) is to plug in a bridgeboard
and an arcnet card so I can access our Lantastic network at the store.
I'll probably end up getting a Bodega Bay for under $300.

From what I understand, the new SVGA multiscans do NOT scan down to
15 KHZ. I may be wrong but I think that is one of the reasons for the lower
price.

I'll check ours when I get into the store later today and let everyone
know. Of course, if ours does, that doesn't necessarily mean that all the
other SVGA MultiScanning monitors will.

I bought a Packard Bell (PB 8528SV) and it won't scan down below 31.5
KHZ. Since I have a 1084 on the desk as well but if you don't you might
want to try another monitor.

Thanks, but I was replying to another user. I have both a CBM2002
(functionally the same as the 1080 & 1084) and my Mitsubishi AUM1349 (model
just before they put the Diamond Scan name on it). Both work well on the
Amiga. We were trying to figure out what other VGA monitors would work with
the Amiga.
