I'm gonna try this here and then in the os/2 forum and see what sort of response I get. I have a Sony CD-531 internal drive and I am trying to see if I can get some support for it. First I wonder if there is an updated sys driver for it that might work better than the one that I currently have which is dated like '89. It works, but was just curious. Second is there any way to find an os/2 driver for it? If anyone know of any knowledgable SONY folks I would love to find out where they are. I have called all over the country it seems looking for someone at SONY knowlegable about their drives and it seems all I draw are blanks.

Is the Sony CD-531 a SCSI CD-ROM drive? Only SCSI CD-ROM drives are supported under OS/2. You can download the file KODAK.TXT it has the phone number to Sony tech support I beleive.

There is currently an OS/2 driver under development for the new Sony CDU31A drive and should be available within the next few months. This is not a SCSI drive, but a new proprietary drive interface. Other companies which offer SCSI host adapters such as Adaptec or Future Domain may have OS/2 drivers under development for the Sony SCSI interface drives. Regards, Les Inanchy

With regard to your question on the CDU531, you can download new device drivers from the Sony support bulletin board at 408-955-5107. Unfortunately, there are no plans at Sony to develop an OS/2 driver for this model. For any other customer support questions on CD-ROM you can call our new customer support number, 408-955-4343.
