Does anyone know if it would be possible to connect a Digital RRD-40 CDROM
drive to an IBM compatible PC using a SCSI card? Which SCSI card(s) would
be compatible? In addition, what software driver for the CONFIG.SYS file
would be used with it?

If it is a SCSI CD-ROM drive it should work without any problem. This is
assuming Digital didn't have the firmware significantly modified. You might
try the VAX forum and see if you can find out more information on what type
of mech the drive is.
Also if you get a SCSI card make sure it has an ASPI driver. This helps
solve many problems. You need specific drivers like CORELscsi which works
with any ASPI certified SCSI host adapter (card). (GO COREL) for
infomration on CORELscsi.
I think you will find that the RRD40 uses a special bus interface built for
DEC from phillips. The RRD42 is SCSI though. I considered the same thing
having the RRD40 sittle around idle in my computer room 90% of the time.
