Jason, If you could supply a little more information for us, we'd be glad to try to help you out. What terminal program are you using? How many disk drives do you have? Jason: We need to know what terminal software you r running and the configuration of your 500 (memory, disk drives, hard drive, etc.). Then we can give you specific advice on downloaoding. You might also might wnat to "GO AMIGAFF" (Amiga File Finder) and search the keyword DOWNLOAD for text files in the libraries that can be read online and captured in your buffer. – Whapping from the North Coast Michael

Jason, First of all, be sure your terminal program is set for 8 bits, No parity, 1 stop bit. Then, make sure it will support one of the protocols used on CIS. QuickB or B+ protocol is the best to use here, and you should use that if your term program supports it. Second choice, I think, would be Y-modem. Now, here is the way to do it using command mode. (It can be done with menus, but this works nicely.) Suppose you want to download a program called FILE1.LZH, and you want it to be stored on a disk named DL: when it comes down. Get disk DL: formatted and handy before you sign on. Then, go to the library that contains FILE1.LZH and locate the file. You will be at a prompt that says Disposition! You do this: DOW PROTO:QB The system will say, "File name for your computer." and you type: DL:FILE1.LZH If your terminal is set to use QuickB protocol, this will start the download immediately. If you have to use another protocol, substitute its name where I have QB. If you still have problems, please tell us what terminal program you are using, and exactly what is happening when you try to download.
