A3000 broken?

Hi all… As some of you might remember, I had a problem about a week ago
with connecting a mac SCSI harddrive to my new A3000. At first it didn't
work and then I was told to disconnect pin 25 (termination power) Well, I
put a piece of tape over the pin to cut it off but when I disconnected the
drive I found that the tape wasn't even cutting the pin off. BUT, the drive
was still working. Then, since my A3000 was new, I was testing which games
of mine were going to work okay, so I kept rebooting the computer. Well,
after one reboot the mac drive didn't work and I ran into the same problem
where the 3000 wouldn't recognize any drives on the scsi bus (internal or
external.) Anyway, the other day I decided it was time to hook up my
printer and found that it didn't work, unless I jiggled the cable around. I
know the cable isn't bad because I just took it off of my old 2000 where it
worked fine. So, what I'm trying to say is that I think my 3000 is broken?
What do you think? The SCSI and parallel port are right ontop of each
other. Could there be some loose connection? All help is greatly
appreciated…

Tim,
While anything is possible…my first guess would be that the cable
went south rather than the socket. Sounds like a bad solder connection
that became worse when you moved the cable from the 2000 to the 3000.
Next guess would be dirty contacts on the cable connector or
something similar. Next would be simply a too loose fit on the connector.

OKAY, I fixed it… There is a loose connection inside of the A3000. When I
push the printer cable up a little bit, the connection is complete and both
the printer and the SCSI port work fine. I'll have to call CBM to come
repair it… But I have it working for now.. Thanks for the help…
