#Trump Pro SCSI Port???

Hi Everyone,
I am considering the purchase of a Trumpcard 2000 professional for my
trusty old A1000. I am hoping not only to take advantage of its high
speed, but to use it with my A3070 150 meg tape streamer, that I have on my
A3000. I would appreciate knowing two things:
First, has anyone used this hard disk drive card along with a tape
streamer successfully?
Second, does this card have a "standard" DB25 type SCSI port or does it
possess a 50 pin connector?
I would appreciate any help in this matter.

I just installed one for my father's A2000. I don't know from
experience if it will handle a tape streamer but everything I've read says
it will. There is no DB25 connector, apparently IVS doesn't like the DB25
for some reason, it does have a 50 pin connector for internal drives
though.

The 25 pin port generates errors at high speeds, for thier speed they need
the extra grounds of the 50 pin that are cut out on the 25 pin. At least
that's what they told me when I asked (in ref to syquest drives).

My SyQuest seems to like its 25-pin cable enough to function. On the other
hand, I never did have much luck connecting the SyQuest to the 3000's
external SCSI port. To this end, I have a SeriesI controller with the new
rom, which works fine…except for no automount under 1.3.
The 3000 is very "old", having been purchased last summer (with a 3
digit serial number, 40 meg HD, etc..); the machine crashes when the
SyQuest is hooked up to the external SCSI port. Can someone tell me the
preferred way to configure this setup?
Try going to the internal 50 pin direct connection and see if that helps,
also keep in mind my comment on the 25 pin was reffering to the Trumpcard
Pro wich has a high transfer rate, that's why they suggest the 50 pin
direct route.

I have a SyQuest hooked up to the external port on my 3000. It works fine.
My machine was one of the first 3000's too. I simply plugged in the drive.
I run HDToolBox to partition the cartridges, formatted them and everything
has worked great ever since
Sorry I can't help with your specific problem, but the setup should work.
Make sure the SCSI ID of the SyQuest is not the same as the internal drive.

Thanks for the information. I believe I read someplace that IVS
didn't think that a DB25 connector wouldn't be able to keep up with
their high specs. I would assume that Redmond sells DB25 -> SCSI 50
pin cables. All I need is some experienced info about trying to get
to use it with an A3070 tape streamer…
Roy, I do have a Trumpcard Pro, for about 7 months, and have had no
problems with it. It does not have a 25 pin DB25 SCSI port. It DOES have
the 50 pin connector on the card. I use it in my 2000, and have a 170 meg
Quantum drive and the Syquest 44 meg removable HD on it (the Quantumn as a
hard card, the Syquest external). They work fine together. I have no info
on the tape drive, or any problems that might occur with a 1000
pass-through. Hope this helps – Rick.

Thanks! I've heard nothing but good things about IVS, but I really
need a SCSI that will operate with my A3070 tape streamer. I hope
someone has tried this out there. If so, I will test it with my poor
olde A1000 (perhaps along with the new 2.0 ROMs when they come out –
yes, I have a rejuvenator, so that I can use ROMs for my OS).
