#DNET Woes

I'm looking for help using dnet. Here's the setup: Amiga 1000 to AMiga
500 using a null modem cable with only pins 1,2,3 active (GND,RXD ) I
execute dnet using the following options: run dnet -X -b19200. ( I execute
this command on both amigas). The problem is sometimes the FTERM window
comes up and everything appears fine but when I do a getfiles or putfiles
garbage is displayed on the opposite computer. In other words, I can't do
nothin. I'm not even sure if I'm using the proper commands with the proper
sub-commands/switches. Do you have to set preferences serial commands to
some specific value? Do I have the right pins on the modem cable? Is
Clark Kent really Superman? Inquiring minds want to know. In all
seriousness, I would appreciate it if you guys could push me in the right

Sorry, but I've never used dnet, so can't really help you. Hopefully,
one of our members will "butt in" here (this is an encouraged practice here
<grin>) and offer some assistance. You may want to leave questions of this
nature addressed to "ALL" instead of "sysop", as our members know more than
the sysops (usually).

It's been quite a while since I ran DNet. We did set it up, and demo it
at the 'programmers SIG' one night running at 31250 (MIDI rates). I
believe we set preferences for the baud rates.

I do not believe that the two amigas will handle 19.2KB between them
without handshaking. You will probably have to hook up 4,5,6,8 & 20 using
a null modem adapter. I have used DNet, but its been a long time ago and I
was using accelerated machines.

It's been a long time since I've messed around with DNET, but it sounds to
me like you need to set the preferences baud rate values to the same thing
on both machines.

You should probably connect 6 and 20 on the serial connector. Most serial
links can run with only RX/TX crossed but usually I do all 4 lines. JM
