#Amiga returns to Compute
9 messages in this thread
Well, here's something you may not be aware of. Here in Canada we get the
Gazette section of Compute on the newsstands. There's a red maple leaf on
the cover that says "Special Gazette Section Inside". In the Gazette
editorial of the current issue (just out today here in Toronto), it says
that the Gazette and AMIGA sections are being put back into the US
newsstand editions. Thought that you folks stateside would want to know
that. The editorial is pretty funny, going on about Canucks smuggling
Compute into the US and feeding a black market. 🙂

For the last two months (August included), our store has been getting the
Compute magazine with the Gazzette and Amiga sections included. There's a
sticker on the outside of the package stating "Special issue–Includes
Amiga&commodore"
Hey Denny, What's up? Is Compute including Amiga once again or is this
indeed a few select SPECIAL issues??

Still hasn't happen on NY newsstands yet.

I have seem it on the newsstands in my area, but who cares? l they ever do
is bad mouth the Amiga about how out of date it is. Who needs it!
Craig,
COMPUTE is now including Gazette and Amiga Resource in some markets.
Software Etc. stores, Waldensoftware (I think–can anyone confirm this?),
and computer stores will now get the AR section too.
I don't know the exact details. (I'm always the last to find these things
out :-), but I'll ask the VP next week and post as soon as I find out.
…Denny
My local Amiga dealer has Compute with AR and the 64 Gazzete this month
(issue with Fax cards & big hard drives), Charlseton, SC area.
…..Nice article on Sci Fi authors on line, Denny!
Thanks, Steve 😉

Malcolm,
What month was the issue of capute you looked at? I looked at the newstand
here at radio shack (they get a few magazines, pretty poor selection), they
had the august issue there with a red maple leaf on it, but can't remember
if it had any writing on it, but the only gazette inside there was the
64/128. And if it wasn't for the gazette on 64/128, the magazine would be
less than half the pages it was. The only thing Amiga I saw was the cover
pic – done on an Amiga 1000, and I wasn't even impressed with it.
So, was it the september issue of capute you saw? When people say the
"latest issue" or the "current issue", I wish they would state the month of
the issue instead, since not all magazines are distributed at the same
time.

That is excellent news…
