I am attempting to use the AREXX program RGB2FS to convert 60 IFF's rendered using Morphplus to the Framestore format so that I can lay them to tape single frame. When I run rgb2fs it doesn't do anything but shuttle the drive for a sec and back to the prompt. I have Toaster 2.0 and AmigaDOS 2.0. Is there another way to do this? Is there a way in Lightwave to render IFF images frame-by frame? I use the correct syntax "rx rgb2fs girlcat000 girlcat060". It did respond once with "can't find Toasterpaint" when I did not have Toaster [running? Your help is appreciated.

Toaster paint must be running as a background process. Start TP then hit left amiga, n key combo to get back to workbench. Good luck……… Later

The RGB2FS program has some problems, due to a bug in TPaint which causes it to lose track of which directory its looking in. A nice way to work around this, particularly if you're single-framing the images is to load the images into LW an an Image Sequence, then render to tape with the sequence as the foreground image, and nothing else in the scene. This is also a good way to save the images out as framestores.

Can you explain the steps to do that? I have gotten the RGB2FS program to work pretty well…of course I have to rename each file in order for LW to use them as frames. I would like to try that in LW although I am not sure I know the exact steps as I have never done it before. Thanks

Kip, Here's how its done… Make sure your images are named XXX001, XXX002, etc., (I believe they could also be appended .001, .002…). Go into LW and select the Image button. Click on LOAD SEQUENCE and select one of the images in your series and then in the file name area DELETE out the .001 or whatever number is there. The final file should read just XXX. When you click on OK the image name should read: XXX (sequence). Next make sure your first frame/last frame settings in the SCENE menu are set to the length of your sequence. Then go to the BACKGROUND menu and select either foreground image or background image (doesn't matter) and select your XXX (sequence) as the image to use. Then just set your camera settinmgs to the res you want and render away. Oh, make sure you have save frames selected in the RECORD panel and give them a name for the final frames. Hope this helps… JG

Well…I tried Left Amiga, N and nothing happens? What gives….I did the CTRl CTRL ALT ALT to leave the switcher. Is that not the same?

If you're in TosterPaint & the Left Amiga-N/M doesn't work, try this… Go back to the switcher. Use CTL CTL ALT ALT to go back to the Workbench. Open up a CLI window. Go back to the switcher & then into ToasterPaint. The Left-Amiga-N/M should work now. At least that's the way it works on my system. I have to have something open on the Workbench before I can leave Toasterpaint that way. Jim

If you open a shell from the workbench and leave it open, Amiga N,M will then work with TPaint. Joe Maulucci >>> AP ENGAGED

Kip, OH ya!!!! For some reason a program has to be running on the workbench screen, to be able to return. Try opening a CLI for running AREXX, then starting toaster, then enter Tpaint, Now hold down L/amiga key and hit N. This should return you to WB, and you can run other programs including Arexx scripts that use toaster frame stores via Toaster paint. I wrote an Arexx script that will display images to toaster frame store from within Imagemaster with a fuction key. Needs lots of ram but its kinda cool. The Amiga OS and Arexx are Outstanding……….. The best and easiest way to convert these images is to load them as an image sequence into LW and then use it as a background image and save them out as framestores. It's easier than trying to go thru Tpaint and other methods… JGross
