Tom,
Hi! I was browsing through the messages in AmigaTech and noticed your
tag line that you are in Switzerland. I have an friend with an Amiga
who is returning to Switzerland this week to live and I was wondering
where you are located and if there are any Amiga users groups you attend?
My friends name is Benno Petrig from Arbaz.
Anywhere close?

Dan,
I live and work in Zurich which is the economical capital of Switzerland.
Your friend lives in the very south of the country (up in the mountains of
the Wallis ;^). About a two hour drive on the Autobahn, I'd say.
The Swiss Amiga community is very active. We have good support from
vendors and developers. One famed Swiss company is Relog AG, the people
who brought us GigaMem, SCSImounter and That Outline Font Design Program I
Don't Remember The Name Of. The University of Zurich is the location for
the amiga.physik.unizh.ch on InterNet and the Multimedia Laboratories of
Prof. Stucki (yes, the one with the dithering algorithm).
The biggest users group is the AUGS, the – you guessed it – Amiga Users
Group Switzerland. We are about 350 members, have a big annual meeting and
a monthly double-disk magazine with FDS. I can definitely recommend the
group since you'll find people there from every Amiga use you can think
of. From SW and HW developers to Graphics Artists.
Hope this helps. Tell your friend to call me when he gets to Zurich.
P.S. Can someome in this forum tell me whether it is considered good
netiquette to answer this publicly or should I have answered via CMail?

Tom,
Thanks for your information on Switzerland. I will write Benno and send
him the info you gave me (I don't think he has his computer connected
since he just moved!).
