#Deluxe Music

Hi!
Is there a program available in the library that I can download to play
Deluxe Music Songs that works with 1.3?
Thanks,

We have exactly one program which can play native DMCS files, here in LIB 7
file MMM21.LZH. Unfortunately, it doesn't do a very good job of playing
them at all. The main thing preventing more such players is Electronic
Arts inexplicable reluctance to make the file format for DMCS files public.
If you have DMCS, there is another possible solution: You can save the
file in SMUS format, for which we have at least three files containing
players here in LIB 7: SMUS.ARC, DPLAY.ZOO (which only plays SMUS files,
despite it's description), and PLAY11.ARC (which may or may not play the
files made by DMCS: It's designed for Sonix files which are a superset of
SMUS, so it's hard to say if it will work…).
Meanwhile, since someone has once again brought up the topic, I'm going
to go nag the EA representitive about it one more time… <grin>

Steve,
Thanks for all the info. It seems the best thing for me to do is buy
Deluxe Music Constuction Set.
Once again – Thanks alot.

The Bandito said EA is looking for a programmer for an upgrade of DMCS.
I hope he/she is right!
When I talked to an EA rep back in the April World of Amiga convention in
New York, he implied that an update of DMCS might be in the works, but
wasn't certain if it would be a serious upgrade or just a fix to let it
work under 2.0…

Well, hold on here. I just bought DMCS from Tenex mail order (for 20 bucks,
yet!) and it runs fine under WB 2.04. >>>> Ron Legro / Milwaukee via WHAP!

I've had occational problems with DMCS under 2.04. (I've also had some
problems with DMCS under ALL versions of the OS, but more under 2.04 than
otherwise…) I've also heard reports of others having problems with it.
It's possible that different releases of the program have different
problems. An EA rep indicated to me that they were considering a new
release of DMCS to fix problems with 2.04. I haven't heard of such a
release yet, but perhaps they did one quietly. They haven't replied to a
recent message, so I don't know the status for certain.

In the August issue of Amiga World, page 88, TENEX is selling "Deluxe
Music Construction Kit" (I'd sure they mean "SET" instead of "KIT") for
$19.95. If I didn't already own it I'd grab the deal and run like a thief!
Leslie,
Found it! Thanks, I'll order it right away while limited supplies last.
