386SX BB pricing

Does anyone know the street prices for the 20mhz 2386SX board and the 25mhz
Vortex Golden Gate? I'd like to compare it with the price of a 2286 +
accelerator. I can get a 2286 for about $450 and add the Aox Stax SX module
(a 25mhz 386sx module) for another $300.
So I can have a 25mhz 386sx BB system for around $750. If the C= 2386 or
Vortex boards cost more than that, I may just go with the 2286/Aox combo.
BTW, I already own a 2286 w/20mhz 386sx Aox board; I'm pricing these 386sx
BB setups for a friend who needs PC compatibility.
If either 386sx board costs more than $750, I may just tell him to get a
real PC clone.

As for the C= A2386, the stand alone price when they become avaible is
suggested at just under a grand ($1000.00). Note, this is the suggested
price. The differance between a reg A3000 and one with the BB installed is
$800. Right now, that is the only way you can get one.

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, $800 is a bit too high for a 20mhz
386sx board. With the price of clones being so low these days, it seems
getting an actual PC clone would be cheaper than buying a PC emulator.

Safe Harbor lists an A3000-25/50 with and without the 386SX bridgeboard,
and the price difference there is $520

It looks as if the street price will be around $700-$800 for the C= board.
The Vortex ATonce was a lot cheaper than the C= AT board, though we don't
know how much they'll charge for the Golden Gate.
Don't forget that the 386 board seems to be a much better-designed board
than the AT, which was a kludge. And it has sockets for on-board RAM, so
you don't need to take up a slot for extra memory.
On the other hand, the AT is available now!

I appreciate the info. However, its getting really hard to recommend an
emulator these days when you can get an actual PC clone for much cheaper. I
agree with you about the 2286 being a kludge. The sandwich board forces me
to give up a precious slot. But since adding the Aox(ATOP) module, its
been quite usable. Windows 3.1 runs well (although I do have a 4meg ram
card as well as a decent SuperVGA, which helps alot). But I'm still
holding out hope that the Vortex card will offer something more substantial
than the C= board, as well as being cheaper (hopefully!).
Yes, It looks like a better board. IDE controller, 25 MHz and up to 16 megs
on board, 4 of which can be configured as Amiga autoconfiguring memory.
Wonder how long it will be getting here.
And, unlike the ATonce, it's a "bridge" that can use the PC slots.
