I recently downloaded the MARS.GIF file from the Spaceforum. When I tried
displaying it with my GIFFY2 viewer, I get an image that is recognizably
Mars, but the color scheme is all wrong. I had this happen on another file
a few weeks ago, and passed it off as an error in transmission that dropped
an important bit somewhere. Now I'm wondering if its something else.
Anyone have any ideas? I'm running an A3000 under AmigaDOS 2.0 (of course),
and my version of GIFFY2 is dated 6-13-90 (which is probably when I
downloaded it).
Well, GIFFY2 is quite a bit older than that, actually… <grin> The
problem you're having is quite probably the fact that the image is more
than 32 colors. For these images, I rewrote GIFFY2 to use HAM mode and
called it HAMGIF. It should be here in LIB 14.
