#FRED & diskfont.library

I'm having a problem loading FRED. I did a complete instalation,
started it up just to see if all was okay and exited. Now, a few months
later, I wanted to take a swing at the program but I get a message that
FRED requires "diskfont.library version 37 or later to run." I figured
some other program with an auto install might have installed an
olderversion of the diskfont.library in the libs: directory so I went to
the ADPRO disk and copied the library. I get the same message. Then I
when to my Workbench 2.04 disk and copyed the diskfont.library into the
libs: director. I STILL get the same message. Any ideas anyone?

You probably need to get the diskfont.library off of the 2.04 Extras
disk. That one is version 37.58, and is roughly 57KB long. The one in the
2.04 Workbench disk Libs: directory is an earlier version (36.<something>,
I think), and is much smaller; about 8KB. The big version of the library
has the code you need for the outline fonts and such like.

There wasn't a diskfont.library file on my 2.04 Extras disk, but I
solved the problem. Somehow, FRED got corrupted (hey, it happens to the
best of us <g>) bucause I simply did a restore from a backup and it works
fine now. Thanks for the help.
Glad to hear you solved your problem. (Funny, I though *sure* that
other diskfont.library file was on Extras:… %-/ )
