#Stacker: Feedback?

Does anyone have any experience, either negative or positive, with the
STACKER program and Animator Pro? Since AniPro files are so large, I am
intrigued by the prospect of doubling my hard drive capacity, but wonder
whether it would inhibit the running of scripts and/or cause other problems
with the Phar Lap Memory Manager?
Any experiences and feedback would be much appreciated. Thanks.
I use stacker on my Toshiba 4400 with ANI Pro and no problems. It seems to
be machine dependent though, so be careful.

I have been using Stacker 2.0 for quite awhile now. I use it in my ATC lab
on all my machines. So far I have yet to have a problem with it. A friend
of mine at a dealer did extensive benchmarking, and found that Stacker
actually made his machine faster. It seems to help out the slower machines
(386SX, etc) and hard drives in particular. 2 recommendations:
1. Get QEMM (or some other memory manager) to deal with memory. The two
programs work quite well together, as long as you follow some basic rules,
which are well documented with the software.
2. Don't stack your C: drive. It's kinda hard to explain (trust me!),
but I find it is easiest to use if you clean off your hard drive (sorry
about that), create a single partition with FDISK, then reformat and
install DOS, QEMM, then Stacker. Tell Stacker to create an empty drive with
what ever is left of your hard drive. This will create a large hidden file
on your C: drive, and will act as drive D:. Then re-install your software
and files in D:.
Note that if you use Windows, you can't stack your permanent swap file, so
you'll have to leave enough room in drive C: for it. Hope that helps.

I use it on my d: drive and am pleased with it. I used to use it on my c:
drive but had problems. I am going to install a 600mb mag-optical drive
soon and plan to stack the cartridges. Don't waste your money on the
co-processor version – the software only version works fine on a 486.
