Has anyone with an A3000 run accross this problem.
My screen starts to shake, and then the screen goes black.
sometimes it comes back on.
I heard that the 8520 could cause this kind of problem,
so I swaped some from my A1000. Still does it. My A3000 is
2 years old come June.
Any suggestions?

You didn't say what monitor you have but that sounds like the symptoms of
a dying 1950.

James, My A3000/1950 combo is also flaky – I get the shaking but not the
blackout. Lately it has only been a problem on initial cold boot when the
machine is cold and goes away after about a minute or two. Video adjust
does not help. My dealer said that he has run across several 3000's like
ours in which the mounts for the video fine tune adjuster pot break off
from the mother board. As they wiggle around the display is affected.
Since my A3000 case is buried under a cozzy and numerous drive boxes I have
not yet checked mine and since (at the moment) the shake goes away it is
only a minor annoyance. Good luck Patrick

My original A3000 motherboard had that problem. It turned out to be the
display en [D [D [D
display enhancer. C= replaced it tho' with every effort made to make it a
good deal. I know C= is perfect, but thier GoldService has been excellent!

You have been cursed….thats the problem….this is the hardest problem to
diagnose, if I'm picturing the symptoms correctly.
OK now when it goes black … if it comes back on, does it reboot or are
you at the same place you left off.
If it you are the same place you left off, I have no idea…but its should
be tracible back to a certain point.
If it reboots possiblities are:
Flakey:
crystal CPU
or most any other chip on the board that is overdriven, not meeting spec,
etc.
Cold solder could also do it. How long is it before this happens? Does it
keep happening until you let the machine cool down? If you have a bad
solder joint the heat from the system could resitance across the joint.
