DECNET LAN connection

I manage a DECNET based LAN includeing PC's Macs, VAX and Eclipse computers. We are looking to add some Amigas to the net. The network is Ethernet based and we have Ethernet cards for the Amiga. Required services are file sharing under VMS security, network printer access, and task to task programing. If you know of a source of software which would satisfy these requirements, your help would be greatly appreciated. Gary Dunlap : Wyrd Software : It just works like magic!

My company sells TSSnet, a licensed version of the same TSSnet that's part of Apple and DEC's DECnet for the Macintosh. It's now available on the Amiga. It includes security, network printer access, and a simple interface to task-to-task programming, similar to programming any Amiga Exec "device". What version is TSSnet at now? We tried 1.01, but it lacked file access, printer access, and LAT support. Also, what level of integration is the printer access? Can I print to it with applications which only know the PRT:, PAR, and SER devices, or does it require running a special program. I have seen implmentation which worked both ways and the later way is a royal pain to work with. The same question applies to file access. Gary Dunlap : Wyrd Software : It just works like magic!

We have "file access", but we don't have a "file handler", meaning a new disk-like device doesn't appear in your file requesters. From the perspective of the features you mention, they haven't improved since version 1.01. Frankly, there isn't much demand for DECnet on the Amiga these days.

The distribution we have does not have file access either. FAL only respondes to MIRROR, and there is no hook to remote FALs. We have only CTERM, and Task to Task programers support. Gary Dunlap : Wyrd Software : It just works like magic!
