Stratocaster Object
7 messages in this thread
Last night I downloaded the Stratocaster Lightwave object, dearchived it,
and began loading the components into Lightwave Modeler. The Stratneck.lw
object has one point. The same is true for the knob1.lw, knob2.lw, and
knob3.lw objects. Other objects in the set appear to have downloaded
properly. Obviously, there is a problem here somewhere? Has anyone else
attempted to download this object and noticed any problems? Thanks.

That object was a demonstration made at the request of a customer of
ours… it wasn't supposed to be perfect. Perhaps I should delete it. You
got it from the Syndesis library in Amiga Vendor forum?
John,
Thanks for the info on the Stratocaster object. Yes, I did download it
from the Syndesis library in the Amiga Vendor forum …requiring about 13
minutes of download time. I do think the description should indicate the
object has problems, yet I also applaud the efforts of those attempting to
upload lightwave and other format objects to CIS.

I was the one that asked for the Stratocaster conversion.
If you are still intereste, I have uploaded a MUCH improved version fo the
object to the AmigaArts 3D library. I have recreated the knobs (I think
they look pretty cool :^), and also the neck.
In truth, I was so disatisfied with the original object, that it was
recreated from the ground up – using the original object only for the
outlines of the various pieces. I spent a good amount of time working on it
– points along curves have been increased 2-4 times, surfaces have MUCH
better attributes now, polygons and points were minimized, detail was added
where necessary (check out pickups & guitar head), and I have included some
JPEG'd 24bit images for use as surface & reflection maps.
This one SHOULD be worth your time (even at 2400 BAUD).
If you like it, please tell me. I am now in the business of producing
photorealistic 3-D graphics for anyone who's buying
(shameless plug :^).
BTW, the tiger skin texture in the sample pictures doesn't come with the
object.

Erik,
Thanks for the info on your Stratocaster. I'll download it tonight if I
have a chance. I upgraded to a 9600 baud modem this weekend and the 1.9H
version of Whap! finally seems to get the cataloging and downloading
functions correct so I'll have a go at downloading your object. I'll let
you know in a few days how it goes. Thanks again.

Would ya be willing to SELL the Tiger skin Texture for a decent price?

Sorry, it's from a package of commercial textures for the Mac.
I'll try to find the package if you want to know who put them out.
They're sort-of OK textures (640×480 pixels, not 752×480 used by Toaster),
biut most of them are fairly blah.
I was wondering if I would ever use the Tiger Skin, until I came across
this guitar – it seems to work pretty well, eh? :^)
What do you think of the knobs? (Note the range of numbers – a
tip-o-the-hat to 'Spinal Tap')
