Has anyone heard anything concrete about the NEW AMIGA computers with the
AA chip set ??????
I wish that someone could give me the REAL story about these machines.
I have a 500, 1 meg Agnus, and a Supra 52 meg 500 XP.. I feel its time to
move up, YEA I EVEN HAVE THE CASH ON HAND !!!!
Well all I hear is that the new computers, with the new AA graphics chips,
are going to make the 500 and 2000 obsolete !!!!!!!!

DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THE "2000 ACTION REPLAY" WILL WORK WITH AN ACCELERATOR
CARD ? The Action replay now uses the processor slot, but I can't find out
if the company will try and use a different slot on the new cards…

If they're not announced, then anyone is simply guessing at what Commodore
will actually do. Developers have signed non-disclosure agreements that
prevent them from talking about what they've seen. So, I'd suggest
patience…

From what I have heard, the A500/2000 may be somewhat obsolete, in terms
of hardware capability. I would still assume that future OS revisions would
still run fine in older models.
I doubt that even an A3000 would be able to accept the new chipset.
However, with Zorro III graphics boards starting to emerge, I'm confident
that the A3000 will aquire equal or better graphics capability than the new
AA machines. I think this will be due mainly to the fact that DIG (device
independent graphics) is an inevitability for the Amiga, and that Commodore
themselves must deal with implementing DIG if they want to integrate new
graphics modes into the OS – Amiga users will accept nothing less from
Commodore, I'm sure.
I read some interesting stuff from over the net.. Interesting.
Supposedly, there is going to be an A4000 and an A1000 Plus/A800 evidently,
commodore has not made up there mind. I will post the message when I get a
chance. Apparently, the A4000 is an '040 machine based on the AA chip set
and is a far cry in graphics from the current generation. Lots'a new
features and preliminary tests show that the software is pretty compatible
with it. The other machine the A800 or A1000 Plus is a pizza style box.
That's all I can remember. Like I said, I will post the message I saw over
the net.

PS: Of course this is all speculatory and so until there is something
official, it doesn't exist. The person who posted the message said he
signed a non-disclosure but was fed up with the wait commodore has on these
machines just because they want to get rid of existing inventory. We'll
see..

I wouldn't bother posting that UseNet msg… several of the SysOps here
are also under NDA's with CBM and I doubt very much that they would allow
the message to be posted in public view.
I don't know… maybe now that it has been picked up by AMReports and
Amiga News they might let it slide… but you should probably ask Don or
Steve before you upload it.

If it's just a matter of truth versus rumors, I don't think anyone would
say that something couldn't be posted… you're free to lie or otherwise
shoot your mouth off, I'd say. 🙂
when the bearer of truth can't speak, and false truths abound, how can
truth prevail?
I've no problem with the rumor mill; Only with rumors that are reported as
fact instead of fantasy.

Yeah, he could, if he was online supporting his users. But he rarely is,
so there you go. You can go over to the ASDG forum and watch the group of
ASDG customers talk to each other instead of ASDG for entertainment. :^)
He's been on usenet a little bit lately, but not here.
Besides, we'll *still* may have our TIFF stuff out before their NASA stuff
is ready, we're certainly trying hard. And ours won't cost $100, either.

Well, the majority (if not all) the sysops here are registered developers.
Because we are, and under NDA, we can't comment one way or another on the
usenet message. As I believe Denny said in another message, there is both
truth and fiction in that usenet posting. We all know that, despite the
darkest of Amiga pundits, CBM hasn't been sitting on their thumbs. They
know the need for advancements in graphics technology, the need for speed,
the need to remain price and function competitive with the rest of the
market. Those advancements are coming, some to be announced in September.
After checking with CATS, I can say that the author of that message is NOT
a registered Amiga developer. Take his posting with a large grain of
salt. Wait for what CBM announces in September; you will be pleased.
As for reposting the usenet message, why bother? AmiReport published it,
Amiga News published it. It makes for good rumor material, but that's
about it. If anyone has a "need to know" what's coming, they already
know. Spreading someone's speculation or wish list only hurts the Amiga
and it's users when pie in the sky prophesy is taken as fact and does not
materialize.

I will not post that message now that every one has seen it's content. I
too know that it is only speculatory, but sometimes that is part of the
fun. Right now, it's a guessing game and every Amiga addict is acting on
there fantasies. I will be at the show in S. CA in Sept. I hope I see
something then…..

exactly what the Certified program costs, on the order of $75/year, and
the Commercial is around $450/year. These figures are not exact.

The big question and the one that everyone keeps shying away from is not if
they come out with a new machine but when.. I know that Black belt is doing
something with Commodore ???? Wheres HAM E anyway MY QUESTION IS will the
new machines do away with the old???????????? BUY now pay

compatable but the old will NOT BE UPGRADABLE well maybe so knowones
talking and that's why I for one am not upgrading to a 2000 when in 4 or 5
