I am new to Compuserve and Windows. I am interested in creating 3D animation. What is Autodesk, What does it do, and how much does it cost?

Autodesk is a company. It produces a number of software products, including AutoCAD, which is the best-selling drafting CAD package, worldwide. Of interest to you, if you're interested in making 3D animation, is Autodesk 3D Studio, which is discussed in this forum. For information about it, you should contact a multmedia dealer authorized to sell it. You can find the number of a multimedia dealer near you by calling 800/879-4233. Another way to find out about 3D Studio is to read the message threads about it. – Jack

<<What is Autodesk, What does it do, and how much does it cost?>> Autodesk is a software company; it makes great software, and, last I heard, had a market value somewhere around a zillion dollars. <g> I'm not sure what product you are asking about. There's AutoCAD (and the familiy of related add-ons), 3D Studio and Animator Pro, as our three main products, plus a skillion little ones. The only product we have that creates true 3D Animation is 3D Studio; it is not a windows product. Animator Pro is a 2D animation package, though many 3D-like effects can be managed. Multimedia Explorer is a low-end 2D animation package that includes a windows-based animation player. Questions about 3D Studio should be directed to section 3; questions about Animator Pro or Multimedia Explorer should be directed to section 2. AutoCAD is handled in the GO ACAD forum.
