#WACKO DISPLAY, SEND HELP
3 messages in this thread
Okay, I've got a problem. I just had a new 1 meg agnus installed. Now my
screen is going wacko. This is what's happening. Whenever I'm working,
periodically my graphics become scrambled. The best way I can describe it is
with the old ETCH-A-SKETCH, remember those. It looks as if someone has taken my
screen and shaken it. The pixels become scrambled. Random colors appear.
Windows behind a current window bleed through. If I close a window with the
sizing gadget and reopen it the image is restored. Albeit, only temporarily.
The longer I go the more scrambled the screen becomes. The actual function of
my Amiga is unimpeded. The only guess that I have is that my Agnus has become
unseated. Before I check it and break the seal I am seeking out the wisdom of
my peers. Any ideas.
Thank you fer yer support.
Sounds like an Agnus problem alright. It could be a flakey chip, or a
seating problem. There's another possibility – you didn't say whether this
was a 500 or a 2000. I've seen a fair number of older 500's (with REV 5
motherboards) that will not work reliably with the 1 meg upgrade.

Keith,
A wacko display problem should be aimed at Dave Cinege. He's an expert on
wackos <g>
