Hi you all
'I am not an OPAL VISION user yet but I would like to find out How easy or hard
to hook up one of those WACOM tablet to use with OPAL.

Although I can't help you with the Wacom question, I can expand further on
an earlier Opal question of yours.
I recommended that you run the Opal with 2 megs of Chip ram; I installed a
second meg yesterday (using a Megachip 2000), and I can now say that Opal
*must* have two megs Chip. Without it, you are only getting half the
picture (literally in some cases).
Are there any *cheap* Wacom clones out there?

Thanks for the Advice. I have been talking to a few people on this forum about
Opal. They all say the 2 MEG is a must.
I don't know if there is any good WACOM clone yet ! I myself is still keeping
an eye out for one. There are some wire Stylus type table A4 size selling
cheap but they are not pressure sensitive.
Is there Two version of OPALVISION. I got a friend who mail ordered an Opal
and found out that the board is actually shorter ( on the connector legs) for
his Video Slot in A4000.
I got an A2000 and the Opal board fits nicely in my A2000 but I can't get it to
boot up on my A2000. My friend with the A4000 can't get his machine to boot up
with the OPAL board installed in his machine.
Both of us can't get the OPAL board to bootup with the board install in our
machine. Hmmm…. Very strange.
Here's the setup. On the Opal board we can read "REV 1.0" printed there. My
machine is an A2000 with 5meg ram and Hard drive. CSA 030 installed.
My friend's is a factory A4000 with 040 and 4 meg Fast and 2 meg Chip and HD
installed.
Are we missing something ?

Lucky for you, I have my machine open as I type this 🙂
It seems that you did get an older version of the board. Mine says Rev
2.0 in the upper right (by the bracket).
Aside from revisions, there does not appear to be multiple versions of the
card. The video slot in the 4000 is "wider", hence the larger slot. The
Opal works well in my friend's 4000 upstairs, which is identically
configured to your friend's.
Mine is operating in a 2000, 8 megs 32-bit RAM, 2 megs chip, WB2.1.
I'm not sure what you mean by "can't get the OPAL board to bootup with the
board installed in our machine(s)." Do you mean that the machine boots,
but the board does not operate? Does OpalPaint report that the board is
missing?
The only thing that I can come up with is that your Workbench colors are
not set correctly. Seems that on a 2000, the blue component of one color
must be an odd figure; I believe that the restrictions are somewhat
different on an AGA machine.
Let me know how you make out. My Opal experience was "plug 'n' play".

Thanks for the reply.
O.K. Me and my friend both can't get our Amiga to boot up at all with the Opal
Vision Board installed. My A2000's second drive light just kept on light up.
My friend's A4000 just sits there with the hard disk light on all the time.
Very strange. From the looks of it, the Opal Board I got is the old version
What about the mount bracket. The A2000 bracket for the Video slot is dif
different from the A4000. How is your Opal Board mounting bracket handle i the
difference.
I am still trying. 🙁

The Opal I got came with two different brackets. One was for the A2000,
the other for the 3000/4000.
Its a pretty easy guess to say that your Opal has crapped out. I would
suggest returning it, or contacting the Opal folks for a fix.

Yeah. That figures. The OPAL my friend pay for is defnitely having problem.
So, there is two bracket. Hmm…. defnitey have to talk to the supplier.
