POCO and Aniplayhi
5 messages in this thread
I need to play a flic very close to the speed at which the accident happened. I
found a poco routine ( written by James Hyde, see below for code) that can
provide very small changes to the play speed unlike the jiffies. The jiffies
provide too big of increments to be usefull to me.
My question is there a way to use the POCO routine to control the speed of a
flic played by aaplayhi. Maybe there is a player program that will give me the
control over speed that I need. Any ideas???

POCO power to the rescue!!!!!!!!
Why didn't I think of that before? Here's a POCO routine that will get pretty
damn close (close enough for government work <g>):
main() { int frame_count; frame_count= GetFrameCount(); SetSpeed(31);
PlayFlic(frame_count); }
Theoretically the variable passed to to set speed should be 33.3333… but I
assume there's some POCO overhead involved, I empiricaly found 31 to be close
enough.
Wow! Four lines of code saved over 22 hours of deck time! I'm amazed.

Rick,
I seem to recall that there was a POCO utility around that would play ANI
scripts. Adding the the foregoing code to that should do the trick. If you need
it for distribution, (to non AAP sites) I'm not sure what you need to do.

Thanks for the reply. I need it for one particular attorney, so really I need
something that can be freely copied and used anywhere. BTW, how are things
going down in Dallas. I have not seen you much on CompuServe lately.

Rick,
Doing pretty good, been working hard the last couple of months in a "real job".
I'm back on the streets again, so I'll be hanging around here more often. I
guess the world has been keeping you busy lately…

I been really doing pretty good. Right now I'm working for an attorney that has
four train accidents, three at one intersection and another one two blocks down
the road. Talk again later I'm going to Michigan for two weeks starting Monday.
Have a good holiday!!
