Hello, I've been working with 3D studio for a couple of weeks now at the
office and I was flipping through the manual, it mentions that 3D studio
can work with a video controller interface… is this the same as a
video digitizer like a Targa Board or Video Blaster, where images can be
transfered to a VCR, or is it another interface??
It means a board that controls single-frame video tape recorders, for rendering
single-frame animations. For example, with a Diaquest controller, 3D Studio
talks to the Diaquest, and the Diaquest controls the VTR.

Hi Baback, I saw your note on what a video controler would do.. All it does is
control a frame accurate video machine from within 3D Studio..One that I just
purchased is the Animation commander from Forefront Graphics in Toronto Canada
(416) 636-4444 it costs 595 US and if ou need more info I'll let you know what
kind of machine it can handle and how well it's doing with my humble setup..

How do you like the Animation Commander? I'm considering buying one, but
haven't heard too much about it, just vague raves about how good it is.

John, I just got it last week and since my setup is small I must rent the video
equipment each time .,, Last week I used a Sony 3/4 Umatic for the first trial
run and it went perfectly.. Installation took 5 minutes, putting the cart in
took a few minutes and it runs from within the VTR Setup (also can be run from
within Animator Pro, Windows 3.1 & from the DOS line.. Am preparing a review of
it that will go to 3D artist) the company selling it is:Forefront Graphics
