#T128SCSI.ADD & OS/2 2.1
5 messages in this thread
The T128 uses the standard 8 bit interrupts, 3, 5, and 7. With os/2, you need
to use IRQ 5 to install it properly.
For audio with OS/2, you need to use the appropriate .FLT file with
OS2CDROM.DMD for SCSI-1 drives. SCSI-2 drives should get audio with just
OS2CDROM.DMD through the line outs or the headphone jack. For audio with sound
boards, you need the appropriate sound board driver.
I have an NEC CDR-80/T128 SCSI on a clone system running OS/2 GA 2.1. Back
late last year I managed to get data and sound from the CD using the Sept(?)
Trantor drivers under OS/2 2.0. Now under 2.1 basic CD support, I have no
data or sound using the latest Trantor driver and NECCDS1.FLT. Falling back
to the old Trantor driver and NEC FLT file I can get data but no sound.
How can I get my sound back? Also what are these jumpers that people are
talking about on the T128 card?
Thanks

Make sure you don't have the /T command on the Trantor .ADD if you are using
the .FLT file and OS2CDROM.DMD.
INformation on the jumpers for the T128 interrupts is in the OS2-TSL.EXE
package for those who don't have it in their manuals.
"Make sure you don't have the /T command on the Trantor .ADD if you are using

Thanks Jack. I tried every option to get the June T128SCSI.ADD loaded but under
OS2 2.1 GA it just won't work. Eventually I managed to get sound by using the
09/92 ADD version with the latest OS2CDROM.DMD and also the latest NECCD1.FLT
file. Now I have a problem with CD's from Profit Press. I can read them a bit
better under native DOS but still have problems (as if there is too much data
on the CD!). What is the latest DOS driver for the T128 and NEC CDROMS? Thanks
again for your assistance ps Will the new OS2 divers still be out this month?
cheers

For NEC driver versions for the T128 and DOS, you need to contact NEC. That
card hasn't been sold by us for over a year now, and I'm not sure what drivers
NEC is supplying with their OEM version.
If you supply NEC with some information (not just 'I'm having problems'
statements) they should be able to help solve your problem.
Very Important: If you want to get help with a problem, please describe the
problem complete with error messages, etc. DO NOT tell the technician what you
think the problem is… often times that will divert them from the real
problem! Just the facts, and only the facts are required. <g>
