#Tape compatibility

I've looked up the Colorado compatibility chart, and apparently the Jumbo drive
can read only DT-120 or DT-250 tapes (QIC-40 or QIC-80 formats). Sorry this
doesn't match what you've got. What kind of drive is it you have? Maybe one
of our other shops has one.

jumbo drives are cheap enough, if that is what i want to do, i will get one…
i like the scsi drive better, easier, etc…

I just emailed you! Yes, SCSI drives are probably better than Jumbo, but
that's what we have, mainly because they are very common and lots of people
send us data that way. Specifically, what kind of drive is yours?

my tape drive is the higher end model from colorado memory systems, their
qfa-700 which is a 700 mb drive…

transferred now that I know what you have. Please give me a few days —
holiday weekend and all, y'know.
How much do those QFA-700s retail for?

can't remember for sure, but i think the drive and card go for $800 to
$950…….

Thanks. I've posted a message on our inhouse email, to see if any of the other
shops have one, and I'll look around here to see if I can find one to use. It
seems a shame to have a more elegant piece of equipment and have to buy down to
use your data! I'm trying….

it is no problem, i was planning on shipping a hard drive anyway, i trust the
hard drive more than the tape…

You're probably right — isn't getting away from tape one good reason to use
CDROM? It's a little ironic that we use it so much to get data to CD… Ya
hafta do what ya hafta do, sometimes.
