#SCSI Terminate on CD-ROM

Well, I took the plunge and purchased SCSIworks! Now I'm wading through my
first attempt to connect multiple SCSI devices on to the same adapter (my PAS
16 card).
I only have a two-peripheral SCSI cable right now (a connector on each end plus
an additional plug in the middle). I got my Seagate ST4766 SCSI hard drive to
work solo just fine with the help of SCSIworks! Now I'm struggling to
simultaneously connect my NEC CDR-83J CD-ROM drive to the PAS-16 SCSI "chain."
Alas, however. no go! I suspect I might need to remove some kind of terminator
on the SCSI CD, but can't find anything in the MediaVision or NEC documentation
which describes how to do this.
Do you think I'm on the right track here? If so, can you suggest a source for
information on how I'd go about removing the SCSI terminator from my NEC
CDR-83J?
In a few days (when a longer and fancier 3-peripheral SCSI cable arrives), I'll
even try to get my Bernoulli box connected as well. (Iomega's documentaion
does inlude instructions on unterminating their drives).

I haven't found termination to be a big issue with the PAS and multiple
devices. You DO have to make sure you are using different SCSI id's for each
device and you DO have to install both the HD and CD drivers from the
SCSIworks! package… you can't use the older CD-ROM driver supplied with the
PAS since it isn't ASPI compatible.
The CDR-83 doesn't have internal termination, so you may need to add a SCSI
terminator to your chain with multiple devices.

Thanks for your helpful reply. My CD-ROM now peacefully coexists on the same
PAS-16 SCSI chain as my new SCSI hard drive.

I've run across another SCSI issue I thought I should ask you about.
I use Hyperdisk 4.60 as my disk cache. I noticed a QEMM 7.01 tech note warning
about possible problems running bus-mastering devices in virtual 8086 mode.
Their preferred solution is to use a driver which complies with the VDS
(Virtual DMA Services) specification.
Is this apt to be a relevant issue for me using the PAS-16 and SCSIworks! for
my SCSI controller?

The PAS isn't a bus mastering controller, so you shouldn't need to worry.
