Where can one find out more info on this incredible-sounding system? Who
makes it? What number should I call? If these questions have already been
answered, please excuse my CIM Lag. :>
Try calling them direct. The number is (206) 671-3325. I saw a demo (a friend
of mine has one) and it sure beats the heck out of the Toaster thing. It has
all kinds of in's and out's (including Betacam component), all kinds of great
special effects, digital frame buffers, the works… I just wish I could
justify its cost (this is all a hobby). It starts at around $5k and goes up to
$12k with all options.

Well, I have one, and it only cost 4K, and has all the options I'll want for
quite some time (the only other thing, of interest to 3D users here, is the
digital Player/recorder which is basically non-linear editing as well as
the single frame recorder issue solved — I'll probably get it at the end of
the year. (BTW, I don't want anyone to think here that 4K to me is
a trivial matter — but although video is only a hobby this machine is
a godsend and takes the place of everything, including TBCs, that
I'll need for my video projects).
Some of the nicer things not mentioned about the VM — it writes
and reads VITC to even consumer level machines (making editing
with them VERY accurate even over the long haul), it has
extremely clean Luma and Chroma keying (even the Toaster
doesn't do Chroma) and the software only takes advantage
of half of what the board can do — the software is constantly
updated to provide fantastic features (this I can vouch for —
the manual I got for the 1.1 release had a READ.ME that
actually contained about five brand new features well worth
waiting for!).
I agree with Gus — you can call them direct and they'll give you
dealer numbers (they sell strictly through dealers — for support issues)
