If you read my last message you will know that I cannot get a Texel 5024 to work with a Trantor 130B card. So I bought a Future Domain Card. Same problem. My 486 DOS clone will recognise the E: drive ( CD ROM ), will do a directory, but cannot execute the installation program on the CD. I also find that I cannot copy a large file from the CD to my hard drive. In both cases my PC hangs up with the CD Rom Busy. The Future Domain is slightly better than the Trantor. It does five retries and the says that the disk is not ready. However even thought the Future Domain software says that it is for Texel drives only it seems to work just fine with a Toshiba drive that we have. Future Domain tech support has no suggestions. Insight tech support suggests that the Firmware in the external drive ( 1.04) may be the problem because their internal Texel 3024 drives have version 1.05. Has anyone got a Texel 5024 to work with a Future Domain 8 bit card. Also Future Domain tech support claims that their card, if there is no bios, does not use any memory and does not use any I/O space. They could not explain how data got from card to the PC. Does anyone have a Texel 5024 working with a Future Domain card ?

Robert, Have you tried different CDs? I had problems with Microsoft CDs with a Chinon 431. They would lock the machine in the same way you discribe. Sence I bought the Texel, the only problems I have had have been with Corel SCSI, not the drive. Ernie P.S. Good Luck.
