#maps and cd-rom
6 messages in this thread
Rich, Thought you might know… Are there topographical maps of the us
available on cd-rom? I have heard that the defense mapping agency or the usgs
has produced these maps, but I can't seem to get my hands on any of them.
Please let me know if you can point me in the right direction. Thanks.

Laef:
There are gazillions (to use the technical phrase) of maps on CDROM, inlcuding
quite a pile from the US gov't. Try calling Jerry McFaul at USGS for a tip on
a list that might be available, 703/648-7126.

Is Jerry McFaul USGS reachable via EMail?
Are those maps US or the whole world?
Regards, Marcus
Marcus:
Jerry will be reachable by e-mail in a couple of weeks when the SIGCAT section
becomes active. Until that time, not that I know of. The maps are both US and
worldwide (several collections).
A good source is the "SIGCAT CD-ROM Compendium" US Superintendent of Documents
Stock No. 021-000-00153-8, $6.50. Call 202/512-1265. A little dated (April,
92), but the contacts there stil work for updates from specific depts.
Good Luck! – Rich
