It has numerous worthwhile features, speeds up the directory reads (not transfers) which are the slowest, and is compatible with virtually all drives. At $49, it's a bargain from an established Mac developer. Bruce

Lisa, What do you have your cache in the Memory CP set to? If it is greater than 512K, set it to 384K or 512K. Larger values will severely degrade SCSI performance (3-5 times slower) regardless of CPU/system version. I had a few problems with SpeedyCD and random hangs, never isolated the problem to SpeedyCD but I had fewer problems without it. Of course, I run an assortment of >200 INITs at various times so it could have been an unfavorable interaction caused by someone else. I finally bought a 300i and life has been very good since. -dle
