Will FWB's CDROM Toolkit make any difference if you have Apple's CDROM 300?
There was a recent rewview in either MacWorld or MacUser that lead me to
believe you would get better performance with Apple's driver than you would
with FWB's. Thanks for any input.

I tested this and found that the Apple drivers gave only slightly better
performance using the default parameters of CDT. However, you can adjust
params with theirs. I used mine under too many that it didn't make sense
and the 300 is fast enough for me. I did this using a 300i on my 950.

FWB CDR Tool Kit sure makes getting around discs on my NEC CDR-25
(can you say SLOW?).
I hear Apple's driver for the 300 is supposed to be nearly as good though.
Now if they'd only fix the driver so I could play audio discs again. I called
them 2 weeks ago and they were going to send me a disk with a newer version…
all I got was some product literature yesterday… guess they forgot to put the
disc in? Yeah right.

I play audio CD's just fine and I know I have the latest drivers from AppleLink
(namely 3.0.4). I run on a Q950. What problems are you having or might it be
QT 1.6 which I didn't install….

I'm running with the Apple CD300 drivers rev 4.0.2 and Quicktime 1.6 on a Mac
IIci and so far it's all working.
