I want details! What manufacturer, which vendor, what kind of CDs came
with it, what kind of price?

Ric,
The drive is the Apple 300 external for $399 cash. It is based on the Sony
CDU-8003 mechanism. Included with the drive are the following:
Demo discs: Mac Applications, Mac Games, Kids Read: Cinderella, From Alice to
Ocean, Nautilus Intro, Mozart, Apple Chronicle, Photo CD, & CD-ROM Titles
Sampler.
Not bad for one of the best drives on the market considering that you can use
the standard Apple drivers.

Great. Where do I get it? What about a face plate to keep the nasty
little dust particles (and assorted popsicle sticks) out?

Give Tom Santos (the owner or just talk to one of his elves) a call at
415-863-6222. He said he just got three more in but I bought another… The
$399 price is for an external for cash/check. The killer news he gave me today
was Quadra 950's for less then $4000… he has 7 of those in his store.

I'll do that. Q950 for less than 4K? I knew we should have waited
before we bought our Centris 650! Well, if you wait for a tech breakthru or
lower prices, you'll never buy. Thanks.
