#Grandma-s pallette prob

Nill, I had the same problem and I have the same system as you. I solved it by
changing the screen resolution to 640×400 with 256 colors under the ATI
FlexDesk contol panel. See if that works for you.

Thanks, Sandy… that does indeed work for me, except that it makes me run in
256. I much prefer 65k… for colors, speed, and now for video acceleration
which requires that depth to run. Grumble.

I know what you mean about leaving the higher end color palettes. But I'm used
to jumping around with FlexDesk since Fractral Design likes true 24 bit color,
video accelleration only works in 65k, Grandma etc only in 256, etc. etc. The
price we pay for our ATI cards, the cards that never seem to reach that final
release of the driver software.

Well, it wouldn't be so bad if you could change resolutions on the fly, without
having to restart Windows. There must be a way it could be programmed, because
I've seen it advertised as a feature of other cards and even of one standalone
program. Ideally, it would be something you could call from a macro or script
(e.g., PCT/Win or NDW script) so that you could start certain programs with a
script that would change video mode run the app, then return to your default
mode when you quit.
Hmmm… that's such a good idea I'd better copy ATI on it.
