#EMM386 & driver conflict

To All I have a problem loading the driver for my Toshiba 3401 CDROM. The driver, fdcd.sys, will not load properly when emm386 has ANY parameters after it. If I run Emm386 without any parameters, fdcd.sys loads low as do all the other drivers and programs. If I run Em386 with any of the suggested paramters, FDCD loads, says it cannot find the host adapter, and then unloads! The host adapter is a SCSI daughter card on a Galaxy 16 Pro card. I would be grateful if anyone has any ideas of what is happening and how to over come it. The section of my config sys file reads device=c:\dos\himem.sys /m:2 device=c:\dos\emm386.exe DEVICE=c:\DEV\FDCD.SYS /D:MSCD000 /N:1 DOS=HIGH,UMB rem Device=\dev\gcdrom.sys /d:MSCD000 DEVICEhigh=C:\DOS\SETVER.EXE devicehigh=c:\dos\ansi.sys country=044 437 c:\dos\country.sys FILES=50 BUFFERS=30 Stephen

Stephen, It appears that you have not EXCLUDED the RAM occupied by the SCSI adapter from use by EMM386. Check you settings and the documentation for the card to see what RAM is being used and EXCLUDE that region by making an entry on your device line: DEVICE=C:\DOS\EMM386.EXE X=D800-DBFF Change the D800-DBFF to the address region your SCSI adapter is using and I think you will have cured the problem. Stephen, The TMC-950 SCSI chip that is used on your sound card is a memory mapped chip. One problem with expanded memory managers is that they may try to use the area that the SCSI chip uses for data transfer. You should use the EMM386 exclude statement to stop EMM from using the memory address of the SCSI chip. If the board has the factory default settings, the area on it that you would need to exclude is CB80 through CBFF. This is the actual area on the SCSI chip where the registers are that handle the data transfer. Rob.
