#OS/2 2.1 & CDROM Woes

I have just acquired OS/2 2.1 on CDROM, but am unable to install it. I have
Soundblaster Pro 2 with the CDROM supplied with it. It is labelled "Creative
Laboratories P/Ltd Model CR-521-C" I reboot the Computer with the 3.5 install
disk supplied with the CDROM disk. When it's up and running the Computer keeps
asking "Insert OS/2 CDROM disk in drive and press enter". I see from the readme
notes printed out from the install disk that Panasonic MC521 CDROM drive
support is not shipped with OS/2 2.1. Is the Soundblaster CDROM a Panasonic?
and where can I get a driver to instal on a copy of my OS/2 instal disk? Please

Bill, I've seen the driver that you need; however I can't remember where –
either the OS2USER, OS2SUPP or the section that Creative Labs has. Try doing
an IBMFF (file finder) with search words and you should find it.

I just uploaded a file, freshly downloaded from the IBM support BBS, which
purports to be a Beta (April, 1993) version of the OS/2 2.1 CD-ROM device
driver for the Creative Labs CD-ROM drive. I don't know how well it works, but
good luck with it. I plan to install it this weekend and check it out myself.

Bill, I just spent two weeks looking at the same error message trying to
install
the OS/2 2.1 update from my Creative Labs CD-ROM drive. Don't despair. It will
work. You need to download the beta drivers from either the Creative Labs BBS
or
here on CompuServe in either th CD-ROM forum Library or the OS2USER forum
Library. There has been a LOT of mail traffic in the OS2USER forum about this
particular problem. Sam Detweiler 76711,1224 OS2USER forum has developed a .ADD
driver if you want to try that route.
It's a nice install once you get past the driver problem.
