Help!
I just installed a NEC CD ROM using the SCSI interface kit that came with it
and when I try to run MSCDEX.EXE I get a message that the wrong DOS version is
installed. You guessed it, my new PC has DOS 6.0. Anyone?
Modify your autoexec file to call the *new* mscdex which should be located in
your dos6 directory, not an older version elsewhere on disk or one that came
with the drive. If that's not the problem, the only other thing I've seen throw
the incorrect dos version error is failing to use setver with dos5, but that
shouldn't be you with dos6.
Bill:
Use the copy of mscdex that's in your DOS 6.0 directory (v2.22), not the one
that came on your NEC install diskette (v2.21). That should work.
