#CD DRIVE ON EDGE??

Hi!!
Looking for help on physical drive question – before I do something stupid (:}
I have a desktop style PC with an internal CDROM drive. For reasons unrelated
to the CDROM, I want to stand my case on its edge like a tower case.
I know this doesn't bother floppy drives. Will it effect the CDROM drive to
stand it on its "edge"??

I've been told by several sources that drives that use a caddy will be fine
mounted vertically; mine works fine this way so far. The caddy-less type don't
work so well, as it's hard to get the door slid in before the CD falls out!

Thanks for the reply. I guess there is an advantage (besides price) to these
older-fashioned caddy-using drives after all!

Some can be stood on edge; some can't. There was a review in the 5/92 issue of
PC World that had a chart for which could and couldn't be side-mounted. If you
have an older drive, you could check that; it might be easier to call the
manufacturer though.

while it is still under warranty <g>.
