#Video capture 2 FLI

Has anyone heard of a hardware/software method of capturing live video
directlyto a FLI or FLC file?
I saw a brief PR or review on this about two months ago, and haven't been able
to track it down.
I suspect there's a connection with the Intel Smart VR, but can't be sure. I'm
working up some texture maps with racing cars, flying guitars, and the like,
don't have a Diaquest or LLamb, so it'd be great to be able to do quick vidcap
….I haven't bought anything yet, pending what's behind this door.

The old JOVIAN SuperVIA card makes FLI files. ken
I haven't done any direct to FLI/FLC myself; I just export from VidCap using
File/Extract as a DIB Sequence — I use Animator Pro to convert to a FLC.

I think the Cardinal Snap Plus card will do that for you. They are in Lancaster
PA. There was a demo at Siggraph last year where they captured sequential
frames from A VCR. Num Pic Was used in ANIPRO.

VTV-2000 can make .FLCs of 320×200 or 640×480; composit or Y/C input. made by
Visual Circuits. Also is an output composite & Y/C card, Dr Dave
Not in one simple process. I do have a method which was developed for use in
our facility, which is blessed with a SONY LVR-5000 LaserDisc recorder.
We transfer the video in question to the LVR. The PC can then serially control
the LVR and capture each frame to its ATVista card. The resultant series of
TGA files are then converted into a FLI by a shareware utility that oine of our
animators found here in CIS. Sorry I don't know where though.

Probably DTA (Dave's Targa Animator) in the GraphDev forum under Morphing.

P.S.
The LVR is serially controlled by way of an RS-232 port, so I wrote the control
utilites myself rather than using a Diaquest system.
