as a recent purchaser of ProCalc v2, I must admit to being very
disappointed with the graphing abilities of this package. I have decided
to ask a couple of questions to check whether I am missing something in
the manual.
1. I have several rows of data in a spreadsheet, and I want to plot
graphs of non-adjacent columns. There seems to be no way to do this, I
have to move the columns I am plotting so that they are next to each
other.
2. Linked to the above, I would like to manually select headings and
labels for the graph data, but this again seems to be impossible.
Whilst the spreadsheet itself is adequate for my needs, its graphing
abilities are severely lacking for anything other than the most simple
graphs. All the major spreadsheets on other systems have these
capabilities, and I believe the Amiga should be able to do this as well.
If the above examples are achievable, I would be grateful for any hints or
tips you could pass on.

Procalc can not plot graphs of non-adjacent columns as you described. As you
suggest, you must crate a area that will hold the data you wish to graph from.
You can pull lables for the graph from non adjacent columns by using the menu
item when viewing your chart CHART CONTROL/SET TEXT AXIS OFFSET. For example if
you have your headings in COL A but you want to chart a range from COL C you
would select the data in COL C and set the TEXT AXIS OFFSET at "-2". Your chart
will use the lables in COL A.

I too am a very recent purchaser of Procalc 2.0 and also a bit disappointed.
It just does not seem to have the "polished" AmigaDos 2.x style-guide look and
feel that I expected from a profesional piece of software. However, I'll
reserve final judgement until I've had more time to evaluate the package.
A specific question: It seems that when importing 1-2-3 files (.WKS), the
recalculation scheme is very SLOW and does not adhere to your statement,
"Professional Calc will only recalculate cells which have been affected by
changes to the spreadsheet." It always does a full recalc regardless of
whether I've made changes or not.
The recalc speed is also frighteningly slow (on imported 1-2-3 files, it
seems) even though I have a 25MHz A3000 with a REAL '030 chip. One of the
reasons I chose to upgrade (from MSS's Analyze!) was the prospect of faster
recalcs. A semi-large (300 rows) spreadsheet in ProCalc takes 1 minute and 17
seconds to recalc versus only 2 seconds in Analyze. Something clearly is wrong
here. Am I missing something?

I'm thinking about getting ProCalc v2 and have a question about
spreadsheet imports. I'm currently working with Maxiplan 500 v1.3 bought
way back in '88. I have a considerable amount of business info in this
early Maxi format. Will ProCalc be able to import from MP v1.3?? I read
in the ads that it would import MP files, but as there are several more
advanced versions of MP (some, I hear, are not compatible with others),
the question remains…

I recently went from Maxiplan to ProCalc, and have not had too much
problem importing the Maxiplan sheets. However, I do have the latest
version of MP (version 5?). Procalc doesn't support the Maxiplan macros.
