#Help with AMGIF.LZH

Hello,
Need some help here… I've downloaded AMGIF.LZH and have read the
file Amgif.Notes in it but didn't find anything in there to tell me
just how to use this program.
Do I just place the extracted file AMGIF in the C directory? If so,
I'll also need to know what the commands are for using it.
I've also downloaded VGIF20.ARC but was warned by my system that
is was "skipping corrupt/extraneous data" in addition to "operation
not entirely successful" "no files extracted". Does this mean that
I should throw this copy away and download it again? Has anyone
reading this had success opening up VGIF20.ARC?

VGIF20.ARC is a file compressed with the program ARC. Did you use ARC or
PKAX to decompress it? I downloaded that file about 3 days ago and using
PKAX it decompressed correctly.
I appears you are looking for a program to display GIF files. The best
(non-commercial) program available is ViewTek. It's in the Graphics
Utilities library … I don't know the filename offhand.

I don't have PKAX. Looks like I'll have to get that.
I hope that VGIF20.ARC is the program I'm looking for –one that
converts IFFs to GIFs. I'm working on a series of drawings which the
SysOps on my forum has to convert to GIF for me. I'd like to do the
conversions myself.

By far, the best tools to use for IFF to GIF conversion are all
commerical. I'd suggest ADPro, ImageFX, ImageMaster (listed in
alphabetical order). All of these will allow you to tweak your images for
their best possible look before converting to GIF.
