Hi, Gary- Did you ever find out if you had the latest ROM version for your Korg?

According to Korg, there's only one ROM version for the 03R/W. I think I passed this onto Dave Miller on Genie, but maybe not. Is that what's been holding things up?

Hi, Gary- We do not have an 03R/W on site. Since driver creation is an extremely interactive process which requires the synth be available during the driver's construction, we are not able to readily execute diagnostics on it. Also, please understand that the beta drivers were made available primarily as a starting point for the construction of particular instrument drivers not already available for the Patchmeister. The making of specific drivers for instruments not on-site requires an employee to spend time outside of work in a music store working directly with the synth. Unfortunately, this is a hard task to consistently impose. We encourage our customers to correspond by way of our BBS (The Blue Ribbon Connection, 404-315-0211) and other online services in order to share technical info and experiences. I suggest you post messages inquiring if there are others who have created a driver for the 03R/W. If you are still having difficulty, feel free to contact technical support here (404-315-0212). We will be glad to offer as much insight as we can to help you out. In any case, here are some hints which might help you out: -You said you were having trouble retrieving performances. Are you switching to "performance" mode from your front panel before you try to get the data? -The sysex dump you sent Annette in no way matched the specs of the synth; either in format or layout. Have you checked with Korg as to why this might be happening? Thank you for your understanding, Adam Nitti

There is a Patchmeister topic in Genie, but it seems unattended; does Dave have time to check it? This is the first I've heard Annette had any problem with the data I sent her; meanwhile, someone else told me a few months ago he'd been approached by BRS to beta-test an 03R/W driver. Yes, I think I did the Performance OK from the (P-meister) panel; I've had no problems sending and receiving patches and banks from the 03R/W, jsut Performances (getting WB 2.1 helped, I'm sure).

I'll pass this stuff onto Dave and make him aware of the details. Thanks!

I've also taken your hint and uploaded a long msg to the BRS BBS; most of it is for Mark, but the last is intended for management. Still, I hope that BRS is not trying to "off-load" tech support from Genie and CIS onto its BBS. There are other things on the commercial BBSs worth having the membership for and we've appreciated having Dave all this time (your participation is welcome, too, of course; one never knew when Melissa would be too busy to respond. In any case, she would just be passing stuff to Mark or whomever)
