#Help please…

I am getting an insurance settlement for a computer that was destroyed. I want
to use the $ I get to purchase a new system to start doing graphix work on. I
will tell you what I am looking at, please tell me if it will work, and what
else I will need. Gateway 2000 486-DX2\66 ATI Ultra XLR w/2 meg 16 meg ram 424
meg HD 15" 1280×1024 mon. VGA – NTSC converter Good Sony or JVC VCR. I would
like reccommendations on software packages. I can't afford 3D studio, though I
wish I could, but I have heard good things about a new package called
Playmation($400-$500). Also, can anyone reccommend a good VGA-NTSC converter?
Thanks for the help. Egon
Friend of mine picked up Playmation. His opinion is the software's fine
for making AVI files, but that's about it. The copy he has is filled with bugs
and crashs occasionally. But you can't beat the price. It also has unsusual,
and undoubtly soon to be copied, ablites to animation and store motion and
characters. Incidently, the price you meantion may not include the 24bit
renderer. You may want to check on that. You may want to check out Strata 3D
and Image 3.0, two better animation packages under $1,000.
Martin,
Could you tell me who makes Strata and Image, and where(mail order),
can I find them? Thanks, Egon
Strata is the name of the company. They do mostly mac 3D software.
Image 3.0, I'll have to dig up.
